'Kukkut' is a Sanskrit term which means cock. In this asana, as the body assumes the shape of a standing cock, so the asana has been named as the Kukkutasana. This asana is very much helpful in strengthening the abdominal areas and the wrist.

Procedure:
1. Sit on the ground in Padmasana with your neck, head and spine erect forming a straight line.
2. Place your palms firmly on the ground by passing your hands through the gap in between your calves and your thigh.
3. Start exhaling and slowly lift up your body supporting your entire body weight on your palms and your legs.
4. Continue to breathe normally and remain in this posture for the next 5-10 seconds.
5. Now slowly bring down your body to the ground and return back to your original position.
